This past week has been driven by full on excitement and eager anticipation. The energy not only lingers from the KFA orientation week but it has been amped! I joined the Hnry team full time two weeks ago and the more I make my way through the program the more I am realizing just how much of an impact Hnry is making in the larger scope of the world for those who are self-employed, myself included.
Now to be completely honest my love and interest in taxes, spreadsheets, and tax compliance was far from enthusiastic, however, as we make our way through this program I am beginning to increasingly appreciate the work that our developers are doing to make our lives easier. You hate taxes? Ya, me too. I strongly believe that all the back end admin work such as taxes, spreadsheets, and invoicing - whether you’re a freelancer, contractor, or tradie - it’s not something that we should be worrying about! My passion lies in communications, marketing, and design- not numbers. Traditionally all that admin work has been the inevitable beasts of self-employment and has always thrown me off of even entering into the realm of freelancing. So Hnry is something that has genuinely made my life easier, so to work with the team to make it easier for others is a goal of mine.
Now some big changes in the past week have been the addition of Nicola our graphic design intern who’s jumped in full force with the rest of the team. Which has meant some great brainstorming sessions and creative discussions, specifically how we can best utilize social media to introduce Hnry as a new way to deal with the financial nitty-gritty of self-employment.
At this point, we are a third of the way through the accelerator and I feel our collective efforts as a team is what’s going to drive Hnry to success. We are exploring and asking a lot of questions, whether it’s advice on a color palette, a UX design, or asking our customers what they think. We’re celebrating even the tiny wins and are looking forward to what this week will bring, as our CFO Richard says “teamwork makes the dream work!”
